AWS-Thinkbox Deal Produces Fruit by Deadline 10 Preview

Amazon Web Services (AWS), Thursday announced the public preview for Deadline 10, the next version a render management platform developed and maintained by Thinkbox Software, which AWS acquired earlier in the year.
Thinkbox is a Canadian company that specializes in high-performance computing solutions to render and visual effects jobs. It is based in Winnipeg, Canada. AWS purchased the 7-year-old company in March for an undisclosed sum.
Thinkbox’s cloud-based compute management solution Deadline helps users manage the many resources available on-premises and in the cloud for rendering projects that are often very compute-intensive and distributed.
Version 10 of the product is now available for preview by signing up here. It features deeper integration with AWS.
AWS announced that Deadline 10 natively integrates to AWS via existing AWS accounts. This allows for easy and secure expansion of on prem render farms. It automatically connects to customers on-prem farms, tags AWS instances to track and synchronizes automatically with local asset servers to ensure that all files have been transferred before rendering starts.
New licensing options are also included in the preview. AWS stated that Deadline 10 customers can use AWS resources to purchase software licenses, deploy existing licenses, or combine the two.
A third feature is the ability for secure connections to on-premises render farms to cloud via remote connection servers. This allows for faster data transfers.
